Hello Journal & Friends,
It is the year TWENTY TEN!!
Are you revved up? Excited for the start of a new year? Anticipating accomplishing goals, both short and long term? Are your fires of enthusiasm burning HOT?
Good thing for me, since I admit I have been using it as an excuse to take a couple of days... okay, all week!! off from exercising. Yikes, how fast we get out of the groove! Okay, I'll call it what is was... lazy!
So, I am back in the saddle today. Just to remind myself of my commitment, here is my goal for the challenge. I kept it short and simple:
To exercise 6 days per week.
And here is how I broke that down:
1. Exercise with my Richard Simmons DVD's 3 days out of each week.
2. Exercise on my mini-trampoline 4 days out of each week.
3. As I get stronger, lengthen the time spent on each mini-tramp session.
The only exception will be for injury or illness. Otherwise, NO EXCUSES.
And I might switch out a different DVD on an aerobics day, since I am excited to have actually WON an exercise DVD from the contest sponsored by Fools Fitness. Thanks, Alan!
Since it is the beginning of a brand new year, I did an unoffical weigh in, just to have it for the record: 358. So the year 2010 will definitely be my year to get out of the three-sies, and into the two-sies... I can't wait!
By the way, in case you glumly answered "nu-uh" to the questions at the start of this post... this next part is just for you, dear one.
And that is... one thing I have learned is that
MOTIVATION FOLLOWS ACTION.
When I'm not "feeling it", I can almost guarantee a surge of motivation if I will start DOING something. The very act of doing something gives us a reason to feel proud of ourselves, and we feel more encouraged and want to try harder. Then we start to see results, which fuels the fire even more. It's a GOOD kind of cycle. It's not based on pixie dust or wishful thinking. It is based on your EFFORTS. It is the result of the self-respect that grows in direct proportion to how much effort you have been making.
Don't confuse this with self-worth... that is innate, instrinsic, built-in... God given. I'm talking about when you KNOW you have gotten off your duff and taken some ACTION. You decided what you needed to do, and chose to do it, whether you felt like it or not. And felt proud of yourself for doing it, and motivated to do more of the same.
And hope grows... belief gets stronger... determination becomes powerful. And NOTHING will stop you. When you stumble, you no longer stay down, but get up and keep going, no matter what! But it all starts with ACTION.
From Dr Phil's book: "Change must come totally from within you. This is where the real power to create lasting results is found, and what you are about to do here will give you that power."
My verse for today: "Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing."
My quote for today: " You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down." --Ray Bradbury
Enjoy the Journey,
Loretta
