DAY 160 Lazy Saturday

Hi Journal & Friends,

It's Caturday!

This has been a slow, lazy Saturday. I haven't even done my exercise yet--but I will!

Yesterday, my birthday, was such a nice day. MyGuy was sweet all day. He is an early bird, and when I got up he had surprised me by doing the dishes! Guys... wanna win points big-time?? Surprise your sweetie by doing a chore she does NOT like doing. You will think of it as work...SHE will think of it as ROMANTIC... trust me on this!

I thought it would be funny--and honest and revealing--to take photos of me getting ready to go on our big birthday adventure. So here is the first one, with clippies still in my hair, and before spackle and warpaint on my face, LOL!

And here is the "after"... let's hope you can see a difference... ha ha ha ha!

MyGuy was so cute yesterday. Ever since we've been married (32 years!) he has this thing he does, when we are going out somewhere together. He will peek at what I am wearing, and then see if he can come up with something to wear that is color coordinated. Yesterday he took one look at my melon/peachy colored dress, and said: "Oh no! Orange!! How am I going to match THAT??!!

We finally got going late afternoon, and it was dark by the time I got this photo. We ended up in Eagle Point, which is a little town in Southern Oregon famous for the Butte Creek Mill.

I wanted to play around at the giant super Walmart in Eagle Point, and by the time we were ready to leave, we stopped at their deli to pick up dinner to take home to watch with our movie. What a disappointment, that deli!! There was not one single meat type food that was not deep fried! Not one. I was so hungry, I was tempted, and actually lifted up the hot fried chicken package to read the label, to see if it was within my calorie budget, and if it was "worth it".

Then an amazing thing happened. The deli lady came and was chatting with MyGuy, and he mentioned to her I was on a "lower carb diet". She proceeded to tell us how she had lost 75 pounds doing that, and now she eats whatever she wants, and just walks about 2 miles every day and stays the same.

That slapped me back to reality and reminded me of my goals, and what was really important to me. And it was NOT that fried chicken! What a birthday gift. I am not superwoman... I can be tempted. But I am so grateful for the Deli Angel that pulled me back from making a mistake yesterday!

From Dr Phil's book: "Losing weight is within my control."

My verse for today: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

My quote for today: "My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four; unless there are three other people." --Orson Welles

Oh, I missed saying Happy Birthday!

Way to go on making purposeful choices with a vision of who you want to be and where you want to go.

Right now I'm taking a break from tunneling (and sadly my own better eating choices) I've got to iron out stress a bit better.

That package still is taunting me to open it but I refuse to until I have a proper work space in my home. (This apparently will take a lot longer than I first estimated... a bit like grasping fitness)

At Foolsfitness we are considering trusting in the snake oil (see my art blog)- Alan

Hey, Loretta! Sounds like you had a near miss--glad you pulled through and sailed into victory! Sometimes it's hard to keep our eyes on the prize. :}

I like BOTH of your pictures. :D but, I can tell the difference. I think it is sooo cute that your husband does the coordination thing! chuckle. He does sound like a keeper. Deb

You look beautiful before and after Loretta! That's the way to do it...fight that evil temptation! It sounds like your birthday dinner was a success after all!

Thanks for the kind words on my first weigh in! I'm going to go and peek at some of the recipe links you sent me!

Great story of self-control! You rock, birthday girl! I like the getting ready photos. :) I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday.

Oh, my!!! Your quote of the day has me rolling! Thanks so much for sharing. I ate an entire pack of cookies today, so that is just perfect to read!

If I can get my husband to put on something that matches his own outfit I am lucky...lol.
That's okay, that is how I like him.
How funny you all played around at the super walmart.
My hubby and I went to barnes and nobles on our anniversary. The important thing is spending time together.
Oh, and if you want 'fried chicken'
I get the tyson breaded patties...2 are like 480 calories (I bake them). I eat it with packet gravy made with water and mushrooms sauteed in beef broth with asparagus..whole meal comes to 540 calories and I end up feeling like I ate real chicken fried chicken.
awesome.
