Hi there Journal & Friends,
Been watching Jack Lalanne videos, and have gotten my behind properly kicked! Time to grab my attitude by the scruff of the neck and give it a good shake, Jack style!
I may not yet have all the answers I'm looking for, but until I do, there is no excuse to at least not ACT like I do.
By that, I mean I am still responsible for my actions, for my choices. I have DIRECT control over MY choices. Sure, there are things that indirectly influence my life, and other things over which I have NO control. But since they are outside my circle of control... why not just focus on the stuff I CAN change?!
Uh... that would mean my attitude, excuses, and poor choices. More to come on that oh-so-exciting topic. ;-)
For today, this quote from Fara Gray grabbed my attention:
PS: just so ya'll know... anytime I post a graphic, feel free to use it as you like, if it will help you. Download it, post it on your blog, print it and throw darts at it. My intention is to help. So, other than my original paintings (the Art by Retta stuff), feel free to use the graphics/illustrations/posters/quotes any way that will help you. We're all in this together!
From Dr Phil's book: "Express your goals in terms of specific behaviors and feeling."
My verse for today: "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears."
My quote for today: "Exercise is King. Nutrition is Queen. Put them together and you've got a Kingdom!" --Jack Lalanne
Enjoy the Journey,
Loretta

DAY 529

I can remember watching him as a child on the black and white tv. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I can see that quote applying to so many things. It is so much more comfortable to not submit and get rejections, but I will never get what I want if I don't keep getting uncomfortable.
Yup, fake it and go through the motions until you feel it. Even now - three years of maintaining next month [I have never been the same size this long in my adult life - so I consider that a big accomplishment - it's a healthy size] - I sometimes have to get myself motivated and run down the reasons why I need to keep at it.
Not as often, but those moods still come. Not so much about eating. That one I have down pretty much. But sometimes I cut myself too much slack where workouts are concerned as I keep running out of time lately.
Then I remind myself what a mess that got me in and if I keep that up I won't look how I want when my first book comes out.
I miss Jack already. I loved watching him when I was a youngun and jumping around the living room doing my best to copy him.
It's really sweet of you to share your graphics. We ARE all in this together :)
That is a great quote. And really, how could you not love Jack?
Please excuse the dumb question (I'm dead tired tonight) but where is the Art By Rettakat stuff? Is there a separate section for your art or is it scattered throughout posts? I'd love to see your art :)
THE MERRY: I guess it is scattered here and there on the blog, mostly on ToonTuesdays, but the place where a lot of it is collected is at the Yessy gallery I share with Jim's photography:
www.morninglightart.com
On this blog, you can find some of it by looking at the index in my sidebar, called "Looking For A Topic?", and click on "my art".
Thanks for asking!

Oh, what a blast from the past. I, too, remember seeing him on a black and white TV.
Hugs,
Mary
Great quote from Jack. I remember watching him as a kid, on TV right over on the other side of the world, in Malaysia! Amazing, his enthusiastic attitude influenced so many people around the world to a better health future.
Yes indeed.
Loretta!
Just saying "Hi!"
If this were FaceBook, I would give you a "poke!"
What a great quote!!
Another quote to add to my collection - Comfort is the enemy of Achievement - and I think sweat pants fits right in there. Thanks Loretta.
I remember watching Jack. He did so many great things and I admired him. Love the quote and that's so true! :)
