DAY 90 Change Can Be Good

Good Afternoon Journal,

It's been 11 days since I changed how I had been making my daily schedule (original post about that problem here). After all the good suggestions here, I chose to make two different types of schedules: a Firm Day and a Flexible Day schedule.

The result: it's working!! Yay!

I have so much less stress now on the days that MyGuy is not working. The only thing left is to figure out how to work in uninterrupted computer time. ;-) Usually, dinking around on the computer while he is here is not a problem. But THIS blog is different for me. When I started it, I made the commitment to be honest. And I also didn't want to just fill space... to waste time. I wanted it to have meaning for me.

In order to get that meaning, for ME, requires a time of quiet... a time of uninterrupted reflection. Of LISTENING... not to all the constant noise that is a part of daily life, but shutting that out and tuning in to the INNER thoughts. Asking myself the important questions, listening to the answers, and thinking about it.

I suppose I don't have the greatest powers of concentration, and get distracted too easily. So I need it to be quiet... not rushed, with hubby waiting impatiently with that "are you done yet?" expression on his face. Or more often, he will just sit and LOOK at me reeeaallly loud. I can't decide if I want to laugh or get annoyed... I usually do both! LOL!

But for the most part, I am delighted with my new schedule. Change can be hard, but life is sooo full of change...  I really need to stop resisting it. This change to my schedule has been great!

From Dr Phil's book: "Think about changing your limiting beliefs as remodeling a house that doesn't fit your lifestyle anymore... and replace them with new knowledge and genuine insight. Only then can you move on to new ways of thinking about yourself that will yield new payoffs."

My verse for today: "Be still, and know that I am God."

My quote for today: "A schedule defends from chaos and whim. It is a net for catching the days."--Annie Dillard

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

Oh... "...a net for catching the days." I LOVE that! Days so easily slip through my hands. It's Thursday, then Sunday, then Wednesday... then andother weekend, and all of a sudden, I've missed the week. "catching the days." Loretta, you're a true find! Deb

Hooray! I needed to hear good results today. I've had one of those self doubting days when I'm ready to throw in the towel. Thank you for reminding me that change can be hard but the results are worth the effort.
I'm so glad you have found a good schedule and I'm betting that with your bulldog attitude you'll find some space for introspection and your computer.

Glad you worked something out that works for you.

I think what your need says is that you need to find that connection within yourself. I think that's utterly fantastic. It seems, to me when I read your posts, like you recenter yourself, etc ... I get a sense of that by the end of your posts. I suppose that's why I like reading them so much. :)

DEB: Yes, I love that quote, too! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

KAREN: You are so right... at times it IS hard, but so worth it. I'm glad you hung on to your towel. Sounds like it's your turn for a Good Day. Your tide has been out... it will soon be coming in. Remember that movie, Castaway, with Tom Hanks? He got off that island because with high tide a piece aluminum came floating in, and he made a raft and used it for a sail.

In the movie, at the end, he is optimistic about life, saying “I know what I’ve got to do. I’ve got to keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will come up …and you never know what the tide might bring in.” Here is a real neat synopsis of it: http://rexkeener.com/2008/09/18/39/
I've seen that movie 4 or 5 times now, and still get inspired by it.

CINCIMOM11: I'm workin at it! :-)

MARY/ANTGIRL: I think I FINALLY figured out why Sean Anderson keeps saying that writing his blog is "therapeutic". ;-)

It's fascinating to me that right after I read your comment, I read my all-time favorite art e-newsletter, the Robert Genn Twice Weekly Letter. Even though the subject is art, his writings often applies to "life". Here is a smidge of the topic this time:

---The juror went on to say: "It's vital for any artist to nurture and protect that which makes their vision unique. One needs to go inward instead of outward and learn to trust your own inner guide."
"If you have one rule to follow,"... "I suggest cultivating a dialogue with your inner voice, listening to the clues your own images offer."
Carl Jung said "Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens."---

Fun "coincidence", huh?
