DAY 378 Thankful, Changing & Tired

Hi Journal & Friends,

I think I am in need of another Thankful Thursday.

Today I am thankful because...
1. We have medical insurance that will pay for 80% of the hand surgeries.

2. There is no rush... I can stall the surgeries til cooler weather.

3. Today is a fresh, new day... I will do better today with my exercise.

3. The temptation to stuff my face after I got the news that I needed surgery on both hands was not overwhelming... and I felt good allowing myself to FEEL it, and have a good cry.

4. I have met wonderful people in blogland... fellow travelers who understand.

5. And I am thankful that God's love endures forever.

I goofed up again, and didn't get enough sleep last night... I'm pooped. So I guess I can also be thankful that today has no pressing appointments, and I can crawl back into bed after this post!!

Today's Peek at the Past

From Day 17, August 26, 2009:
But for ANY plan to work... change must come from the inside. Any plan could work, but any plan can FAIL, too, if the thinking is wrong. Right thinking is a powerful foundation for that necessary change. Obviously, I had work to do in my thought and choice making processes or I would not have gotten up to 460 lbs!

A while back I was talking to my doctor, and said offhandedly "this weight is not a physical problem, is it a MENTAL problem." He looked right back at me, nodded his head and firmly said "Yes!"

So that is why I probably sound a bit redundant...always harping on the mental aspect of this journey...that The Battle Is Won Or Lost Between The Ears.

From Dr Phil's book: "Successful people do what unsuccessful people won't... you don't have to like them; you just have to do them."

My verse for today: "Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust."

My quote for today: "The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places." --author unknown

Enjoy the Journey,

Glad to see you falling on the positive side of things. Woot! I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and couldnl't fall back asleep. I hate that. I have my reading tonight. And, now, it's time for a workout.

I hope the power nap made you feel refreshed, Loretta! So, have you set up a mini-goal to lose any specific amount before your (as yet unscheduled) fall hand surgery? I feel a challenge coming on ...

Sorry about the surgery news, but glad you found the positive in it. Lack of sleep magnifies all of life's little potholes.

Hugs,

ANN: Nope. And you probably never will (never say never, right?). But I've learned over the years that the GUARANTEED way to set myself up for disappointment and frustration is to make a goal with a fixed number.

My progress has never been a straight line down. Always lots of ups and downs, for lots of reasons other than overeating. Hormones, sodium surges, variation in exercise, constipation due to meds, not drinking enough water... lots of variation!

I don't directly control the number on the scale. I do INDIRECTLY influence it, by my choices. And those choices are measurable. Therefore, I find it much more encouraging and empowering to make my goals and challenges based on those things over which I have DIRECT control... those choices.

But then, others might really enjoy a numbers challenge, and find it motivating. To each his/her own. :-)

I like the idea of Thankful Thursday! I haven't been around blog world, so I'm going to have to read up on your hands. BIG HUGS because surgeries are tough. I've been goofing up on sleep lately, too, and it's really messing with me.

I love that you have seen God's mercy in bad news. I need to be thankful for more things in my life. It's amazing how negative things can be changed around with just a change in attitude. I am thankful that you reminded me of this today.

A truly wonderful list, Loretta. It reminds me that although life can be hard, God is always good.

He's giving our gardens a drink as we speak!

"The battle is won or lost between the ears."

Sooooooooo true!! A point that, even when you know it, is still a challenge to work with. Thank you for reminding me that we're all in this together. I needed that today. :)
