Hi Journal & Friends,
I had a post all planned in my head... then my plans went out the window!
See, Jim and Joey went camping and I was so excited to have "vacation" time... no chores, no noise, no cooking or cleaning... just lollygagging around and relaxing, reading, playing and in general, goofing off.
"When the cat's away, the mice will play!"
But... out of town loved ones are coming, so I am scrambling to get ready. :-}
Quickie update on the Carb Conquest Cruise... still going strong. I had an up and down week. Learning so much, had a "flat tire" a couple of days, but I'm feeling encouraged, am now flying down the highway once again.
I'll have to wait til next time to go into details. But bottomline... Progress. I am firmly convinced if we never stop, never quit, and keep trying and learning, we WILL make progress. Don't take No for an answer... even from yourself!
From Dr Phil's book: "Stay real and stay flexible..."
My verse for today: "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded."
My quote for today: "Much may be done in those little shreds and patches of time which every day produces, and which most men throw away." --Charles Caleb Colton
Enjoy the Journey,
Loretta

DAY 713

That ending comment about scraps of time...
I saw a demonstration once, you may have seen it too, in which a glass container was filled to the top with rocks. The demonstrator asked the audience if it was full--and we all said yes.
Then he dumped a bucket full of marbles into the container and they clattered down and in between the rocks. And the demonstrator asked if the container was full--and we said that it was.
Then he picked up a bucket of seeds and dumpted it in. The bucket emptied all of its contents and filled the container to the brim. Again, he asked if it was full. By this time we had wised up and said that it LOOKED full.
Then a HUGE bucket of sand...yep, all in. Then, finally, a bucket of water...and another...and another.
Then it was full.
That quote reminded me of that. I would have thought my space had been used up at the rocks, just like if I only have 20 minutes, I don't think I have time to do anything. That 20 minutes may hold several buckets of value. But I treat it as a scrap to be thrown away.
Loved this.

Hi Loretta,
I'm not doing anything much but that means I'm not doing too baldy either. So much room for improvement. I guess my glass only has the rock foundation ... room for so much more.
You and Deb, among others, are a great encouragement
Blessings, MargieAnne
Loved this speedy post...I can just see your fingers flying across the keyboard.
Have fun with your company!
Loretta enjoy your time with your family, it seems you are doing well. Progress is a wonderful thing, keep up the great job. thanks for being an inspiration. hugs.
Never giving up is definitely the key. When you think about it, every person who has lost the weight loss battle did so because they gave up. Not us . . . . we keep on truckin'
Hugs,
Mary
You're right, the fight is part of the journey. Plus, I think we have a habit on dwelling on what we get wrong instead of what we get right.
Think over the victories. :)
