DAY 11 Flexibility & Attitude

Hello Journal!

Today I had planned to share my thoughts about the next topic on my "need to be CONSISTENT" list, which was to be PLANNING AHEAD...but... me-thinks I will tackle that tomorrow, and instead sneak an extra one in here. That's because instead of sleeping last night, I was up most of the night with a toothache...sigh...

I think I need to work on FLEXIBILITY. I work so hard trying to stay focused, to make goals and achieve them, to get stuff done from my to-do list...and it just seems like flexibility brings opposite results. I have read a lot of advice about it...it's a healthy trait to develop, etc. But I will admit that I tend to ignore it because my goals are to get stuff DONE, not go on detours.

I suppose it is all in the attitude. I want to cultivate a healthy ability to be flexible when needed, and not fret over the things I did NOT get done. If I am honest with myself, I know when I am making excuses, or when--like the toothache--it is something over which I don't have a choice.

I can't always control things around me, or things like toothaches...but I certainly can choose my response to those things. No more crying...no more whining...no more self-pity. It is what it is...now deal with it. What's that old cliche?? This too shall pass.

So there you go... flexibility... I need to learn to be less like the stiff droid C3PO and more like Gumby.

From Dr Phil's book: "Don't just wake up every morning and react to what happens...Be proactive by setting goals and making plans for their attainment."

My verse for today: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"

My quote for today: "A really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour."

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

I've finally developed an ability to understand the difference between an excuse and a circumstance. Toothache?= circumstance

I agree with you 100%!

I love your attitude and your blog. I can tell that your continued transformation is going to be a joy to witness.

I don't see any "follow" buttons. I'd love to add you to my blog roll.

Always my best,
Congratulations on your success so far and it's just going to get better from here!!

Thank you for all your kind comments and encouragements, Sean! I am so new to this...I felt a little presumptuous adding a Follow button...yes, I DID go back and read your Day 327, and identified with so many of your "old" tapes...like: who do I think I am that anyone would want to follow MY blog!!! LOL! Thank you for your friendship on this loonnngg journey, Loretta
