DAY 491 A Pretty Good Blog & A Pretty Amazing Woman

Hi Journal & Friends,

About time for another edition of Friday Favorites!

First up... Tuesday I had a comment from a visitor, Kristin. She calls her blog Bringing Pretty Back. So I went a-visiting, to thank her for such a nice comment. A half hour later.... I came up for air! Her blog was so much fun, I got lost in the archives.

No, it's not exactly a "weight loss" blog. It's... I dunno... about having self-esteem and fixing up our hair, face and clothes, and struttin' our stuff!

Its's about self-worth and self-respect. It's about caring enough to NOT go out of the house looking like a slob!

Okay, that's MY take on her mission, so don't blame her if you don't like it. ;-)

Here's one of her posts from back in May that just cracked me up! I think PJ at PJs and Pounds will get a giggle from this one, HERE. (It's okay to peek... they are real short.)

Next on the Friday Favorites agenda is a video about a pretty amazing wife and mother who is... armless! She has overcome so much and has a spunky CAN DO attitude. Inspiring for sure!

Hope you like it as much as I did. It's a little out of focus in parts, but well worth it!

Today's Peek at the Past (Wow... I really REALLY needed to read this one. I almost didn't go back, but am grateful I did. If NO one else reads it, this was for ME, and was extremely encouraging. I guess I hadn't forgiven myself as much as I THOUGHT I had.)

From Day 130, December 17, 2009:
"I really, truly knew I had a choice to make...
It was so tempting to come closer... to check out how the Self Pity would feel.

Yes, drowning my emotions in food all these years IS sort of like being in a coma. But is it too late?? I refuse to accept that...

I can't change ANY of that. But I CAN change my tomorrows, by my choices today.

If this "scare" had to come, I'm glad it came around Christmas. Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. His birth brought good news, a message of forgiveness and hope.

I have been forgiven, and I have forgiven myself, also, for messing up a lot of years with wrong choices. And I have hope that my good choices now are creating a healthier future for me."

(For complete post "Choosing NOT the
Abyss" click HERE)

From Dr Phil's book: "Be willing to get out of your comfort zone and require more of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally."

My verse for today: "I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago."

My quote for today: "I'm a firm believer in the theory that people only do their best at things they truly enjoy. It is difficult to excel at something you don't enjoy." --Jack Nicklaus

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

You always find such fab blogs. A good number of the ones I read are recommendations from you. :)

It is important to feel good about ourselves. A whole lot of other stuff hinges on what we think of ourselves.
