DAY 357 Monthly WeighDay & New Challenge!

Hi  Journal & Friends!

Oh joy, time for my monthly Weigh In! The verdict: 330 lbs, for a loss of 8 lbs in July. I can live with that. :-)  I am so excited... I just realized that in another 2 pounds I will finally have crossed the halfway point!!

And since it's almost the end of the two challenges that I am participating it, I decided to start a new one, just for August

At first I was just making it a personal challenge to myself, but a couple of other people expressed interest, so I'm inviting anyone interested to hop on board!

I'm calling it the

"Just 1 Thing Consistency Challenge".

Even a small thing, done consistently over time, can EXPLODE with results! I plan to give this my all... my focused attention, just for August, and see what happens.

I say it that way because so much of this journey is mental. And I know me: I know I can do almost anything if I think it is only temporary... if it will end soon. Sure, that's a mind game. And I really am looking to see long-term habits. But this is a way to get me kick-started, to make it fun, a game, a kind of race with myself.

My 1 thing??

I plan to focus on exercising on my mini-trampoline.

I'm having to back-off for now with my strength training due to my hand problems, and instead of getting discouraged, I decided it would be energizing to see how much progress I could make in one month on the rebounder.

I love my rebounder... and now that my knees are handling a gentle bounce, I want to see if I can increase it. I can't do much yet in terms of length of time. But I figure if I split it up into many times per day, I can make progress that way!

Right now, I've been doing 2 or 3 times per day, for 45 seconds each. I know... sounds puny to me, too. By the end of August, I really don't know what it will be, but I expect both the times per day and the length of time to radically increase! I'll tell you each week how much I've increased.

So my official start measurement for today is: 3 times per day at 45 seconds each.

If you don't know the benefits of rebounding, HERE is a good, one-page summary.

Here is a challenge badge for anyone wanting a small one for their sidebar:

It's an informal, fun type challenge with only one rule: please choose a goal that is NOT directly related to the number on the scale.

Other than that, be creative and have fun! Your 1 Thing can be anything at all. Want to "dress up" each day? Make it that. Want to sing each day? Make it that. See??

I plan to report my updates each Monday... you do whatever your little heart desires. :-)

If you read this late (since I didn't even THINK of this til yesterday) feel free to hop on board anytime during the month of August.

And it would be great if you could do me a favor, and get the word out on your own blog, if you have one. Let's rock August!

Remember:

SMALL CHANGES
DONE CONSISTENTLY
PRODUCE POWERFUL RESULTS!

Enjoying the Journey,

Loretta

Great job on losing another 8 lbs!! Small little exercise goals will add up over time. I admire your determination. So often, people decide to do nothing due to their limitations. You are working with yours!! Awesome!

Congratulations on the big loss!

I will definitely join your August challenge...now I just have to think of something I can do everyday, even while I am away on vacation.

Oh, Loretta, this was an excellent post! I hope I can say "I lost 8 pounds" in any given month. That is excellent progress! You've worked hard, and it shows.

The challenge is a wonderful one. I'll join too! I have to think of something to focus on, not related to the numbers on the scale.

Thinking ... thinking ... thinking ...

8 lbs! wooo hooo! I'm so happy for you! That halfway mark is a grand place to be, isn't it? I predict the second half of the journey will be better in every way than the first half!

8 pounds is AWESOME!! I am so happy if I've lost that much in a month :)

I think your rebounding goal is perfect. I started jogging that way; just a little at a time until it started to add up.

I am going to try and do this also. I am not sure what it is going to be yet but I will let you know. I put the badge on my blog already.

Hi Loretta, I'm in...Cheating a little, cuz I have to focus on the number. Need to lose 18 pounds by 9/5 for our sons wedding. I have been working on this since January. The goal was to lose 60 pounds. I'm almost there!!! I'll keep you posted!

:D CONGRATULATIONS on EIGHT POUNDS GONE FOREVER!! :D

Woohooo, you!!!!!!!!! Even with going to the fair! :D

And, of course, I'm getting in on this challenge. Since it's only one month, I'm choosing something that I would not choose to stick to indefinitely. I don't think it's necessary to do this forever, but it will be a good thing to break a destructive pattern I've fallen into.

Patatatahhhhh--For the month of August, I will not eat after 8 pm unless I am hypoglycemic. If the glucose drops, I have no choice but to consume carbs.

I'll post my reasons for this choice and details on my blog. :D

Wahoo, Lorertta!

Congratulations on the 8 pounds - very substantial loss.

I love the idea of focusing on one thing consistently for just one month. I'm going to choose water drinking. Every single day, at least 96 oz of water. I'm always good for 64, but need to beef up a little. Thanks for the inspiration, Loretta. I'll put it on my blog tomorrow.

Great loss this month!! I'm sure you earned it, Retta. Your time on the trampoline isn't 'puny.' How long could you make it a year ago? I think you are kicking butt, girlfriend!

This challenge sounds great. I need to focus on my fruits and veggies. Six servings sounds like a good starting point. I know, I know - that's still not enough. Gotta start somewhere!

Love love love the rebounder.
I have a Cellersizer. I love it!
There were days when I first started,
I could only sit and bounce.
Love Lymph movement!
And love the 8 pounds -- outta here!

Congratulations on your awesome eight! I'm hopping on to the challenge. I've been walking half a mile every day in July and now I'm going for 5,000 steps. I'll get out my pedometer tomorrow and there I go.

8 lbs is awesome loretta! 2 pounds to halfway! I can't wait to see you go over the hump and start heading downhill.
That small pic of the cat on the trampoline looks alot like my cat leo.

great idea Loretta! I will think of something. I always think, well, weight loss, or eating low carb or walking my treadmill daily...and then I cant do any of them every single day! So I dont know yet, I gotta think about it.

Congrats on the 8lbs loss.. Sorry I am late to this challenge. My one thing I want to be kept consistent on is posting at least 4 times a week. I feel that posting regularly, keeps me consistent with my weight loss... Count me in, if it's not too late!!!

SHAWN: This is an informal kind of challenge, and it's never too late to join. So jump right on board!

I like the goal you picked... I know it really helps me to post. It sort of forces you to tune in and really think about it. I'll admit... some days I just DON'T want to think about it!! I shudder to think where I'd be if I didn't post regularly! :-O

Glad to have you join us. :-)

8 lbs. Wow. Glad I found your blog. Very inspirational for me (someone who has quite a few pounds to destroy).

By the way, I fed your hamster today! Come visit me at http://haveyougainedweight.blogspot.com/

Keep up the good work...and I'll have to pull my rebounder out. Believe, I know it's not easy. It looks a lot easier than it is.
