DAY 240 Toon Tuesday Time

Hi there, Journal & Friends,

For Toon Tuesday, I thought I'd share an illustration I did awhile back, because I like it's message.

One thing I am convinced of on this journey to health, is that it's mostly mental. Sure, we need a good nutritional plan, we need to exercise, and we need to take care of the spiritual aspects of our lives.

But once those basics are in place, it's the daily mental battles that will make us or break us. Because what is true about us in our minds, we will live.

So who we hang around... who we allow to influence our thinking, what we read or hear... is key. Choose your input with care, for it has the potential to be a powerful ally on this journey to health.

It's a fine line, I think, knowing how to offer a helping hand and yet not be dragged down into the mire yourself... being able to offer compassion and understanding, yet not be a Pity Party enabler.  It's a balance I'm trying to learn.

I'll admit... I LOATHE that saying "misery loves company". I would much rather reach out and encourage someone who has fallen to get UP again... to learn and go ON.  And to remember they have a choice--every day, in everything--as to whether or not they will reach for their highest potential.

Those are the folks I like to hang around,  the blogs I like to read... the ones that are reaching up every day. If you need some ideas... just look at my blogroll, and you'll find some wonderful fellow travelers!

So, here is my Toon... it is ink, watercolor and colored pencils on watercolor paper. I hope you enjoy it. :-)

From Dr Phil's book: "Be very careful not to let others deter you from your task of managing your weight. Be sensitive... but let them be responsible for their own feelings."

My verse for today: "Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

My quote for today: "Life is too short to spend your precious time trying to convince a person who wants to live in gloom and doom otherwise. Give lifting that person your best shot, but don't hang around long enough for his or her bad attitude to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with optimistic people." --Zig Ziglar

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

I love the toon - you are so talented....
And you are right, 95% of my battle is mental...

Beautiful watercolor. I love the colors. It's so happy and inspiring. A reflection of you. :D

All goals are mental battles. Do I send out for more rejection? Do I open this letter? I know I don't want to read it. Do I really want to be slapped again?

Or I can think; maybe there's something I can use in this to get me farther next time. Then I sit down at the keyboard and prepare at least 3 more submissions. Because I can't quit.

Weight loss is not the only journey that requires these tools. This I have learned and now apply. :D

Loretta....I love...LOVE..your TOON (art)..beautifully done and inspiring. It is so true that we must be careful what we put in our minds...it is crucial becuz its a make or break deal we make when we choose to let negative things in.
Thanks for this blog..what a great reminder to us all!

It is so true. It is alway what I love about some of the blogs I read. I hear exactly what I need to hear. I hear things I've said and thought but forgot. My whole mind shifts when a new concept is shared. I know which ones I probably might want to avoid on certain days and who I want to go to first thing because They will probably make me feel strong when I feel weak. Yours is one of those.

That's why my blogroll is at least 80/20...80 percent positive with some strugglers....I do want to help people, but I need to be inspired as well...you inspire me, tj always inspires me...jack makes me laugh and then there are people who keep trying even though they don't always make good progress...everyone on my blogroll has a good attitude about life though.
That is my number one criteria...can't stand a quitter.
Great post.

Loretta your positivity draws so many of us just like the owl. I love the drawing. It says so much in just a moment.

I have been told and have often believed that I'd be happy when I'm thinner but there is so many things to be happy about right now.

Thanks for reminding me everyday!
