DAY 209 Honest Scrap, Part 1

Hello to my Journal & Friends,

Quite awhile ago
Chris, at A Deliberate Life and  Karen, at Fitness: A Journey Not a Destination
both gave me the same blog award, The Honest Scrap Award.

I don't usually do awards any more.. they are just not my thing, and I would rather spend time blog visiting. But this one was special, and didn't have a gazillion time consuming rules attached to it.

I enjoyed so much reading the answers that Chris and Karen gave, that I decided to do it, too! But after I started writing out my answers, I realized I was so blabby and that it was too long for just one post. Therefore, I'll just put it out there in doses. :-D

So, here goes, finally, my Ten Best List a la Chris:

The Ten Best List, Part 1:
1. Best Meal ever:
No doubt about it... this has got to be from the Der Rheinlander German restaurant, in Portland, Oregon.

Here is the outside of the building... very attractive and Bavarian-ish:

We went there for our first wedding anniversary. It has a Bavarian theme, and they sang to us while playing an accordian!

We had their FAMOUS and delicious Swiss Cheese Fondue,  and a rack of lamb. The best EVER. And yep, I got that fondue recipe from them before I left. :-)

If you ever get to the Portland, Oregon area, be sure to get reservations, and visit them. And DO try their Swiss Cheese Fondue, and their Lentil soup. You won't regret it.

From Dr Phil's book: "It is you who must create the life you want, and the choice is yours to make."

My verse for today: "The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

My quote for today: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts." --Winston Churchill

Love the quote by Winston Churchill. I'm glad you're doing an award, too! Deb

I'm back! I've missed reading your posts!

Congrats on your award. No one deserves it more than you do! I'd also like to comment on the Winston quote because it's so very true!

As always you make my day just a little bit brighter...

Oh, the memories...I remember Der Rheinlander well! Memories of visits there with our small town Foreign Language Club--Yum! I'm so glad to hear it's still there!

Mmmm. I love German food. But, I am of German blood and grew up on it. There was a German restaurant in Portland near Washington Square that was wonderful. A few down near St. Paul ... of course.

I've always wanted to go to Alsace. Someday ... maybe.
