DAY 73 It's All in How Ya Look At It

Hello Journal,

Yesterday, as I was struggling to keep a good attitude, I decided to
write today about "Perspective"...and that is why I titled today's blog "It's All In How Ya Look At It". I wanted to remind myself that compared to most people, I have nothing to whine about.
THEN, I read Sean Anderson's blog The Daily Diary of A Winning Loser.

In his Day 400 entry, from Monday (here) he told us about the
struggles his sister-in-law was having, and HE talked about
perspective. After reading about her extreme situation, I really felt put in my place for getting all bogged down by my teensy weensy bit of
stress.

THEN I read something from my friend Millie on Facebook that was the
icing on the cake. Okay, I thought, "someone" was trying to tell me
something!! This following video is hilarious and true and
thought-provoking, all at the same time. And that's all I have to say
about that. ;-)

Everything's Amazing Nobody's Happy

From Dr Phil's book: "Demand nothing less than the best of yourself and for yourself."

My verse for today: "The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything."

My quote for today: "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." --Herm Albright

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

Perspective adjustment was the most effective thing I did for myself. :) It takes practice though.

What a wonderful video about perspective! That's great! I copied down your quote for the day and put it in my note book to look at all day. You have such a good blog. It's full of inspiring things and even on a crummy day you still win!

I think I agree "partially", but hear me out. Someone's situation might not be life threatening but it's important to them and I think not aknowleging that is somehow making it less valid... and intern them even feel less valid at times.

I do agree that people struggle with more stuff than I do... but we all struggle. Jus in different ways. Some may be with food, alchol, drugs, a situation, all have validity.

I TOTALLY agree with you about perspective though. I just wrote my last blog on framing the mindset around gains of good things and not negatives and restrictions.

I really appreciate your blog for it's modivational spin, and also for it's quotes that get me thinking.

At Foolsfitness fitness comes by thinking. The doing part is easy after the thinking is clear.- Alan

I think I needed to hear about a change in perspective today, thanks Retta. :)

DIANE: Thank you...I'm working at it. I still have quite a ways to go.

CINCIMOM11: I'll check you out on Facebook!

ORANGE KITTEH: I just know you'll love it...kitties have such good taste. ;-)

MISSY M: Thank you, and Hampy thanks you..LOL! I love that verse. I always hear people start the quote at : "Do not be anxious about anything..."...but I think the whole REASON we don't need to be anxious is the prior sentence, "The Lord is near." I like that.

MARY/ANTGIRL: That's encouraging to hear! I keep forgetting, and needed to remind myself.

KAREN: Yeah, that was a funny video...I laughed real hard at his description of using the rotary phone... ;-)

ALAN/FOOLSFITNESS: Actually I agree with you! I write my blog as a way to work on things *I* need to be reminded of...and keeping things in healthy perspective when I feel whiny is one of them. BUT...it is what I call a "me" concept, not a "you" concept. Meaning, I apply it to ME, not throw it in the face of someone else going through pain.

Ever been going through a painful time, and have some well-meaning person quote Romans 8:28 at you?? "All things work together for good..." I call that a "me" verse, something that means a lot to me when I can get to the place where I can honestly say it and mean it. But UNTIL I get to that place, when someone ELSE glosses over my pain with that verse...it is minimizing what I am going through. And so I would never do that to someone else, either.

It's the same way with perspective. I know me...I usually know when I am being self-indulgent and whiney, and need to be reminded that others have it soooo much worse off. There are times that I am hurting too much still, and am not ready for that place, yet. So, that is why I feel this is a "me" concept. I can lay it out on the table, like a meal, and if someone else is ready for it and hungry, they may help themself...or not. But I wouldn't cram it down their throat. But I wrote it to remind Me that I had a lot to be thankful for.

I appreciate your thoughtful comments, Alan. You really make me think. :-)

RUBY/SCARLET SIMPLE: I'm glad it helped you! I know it did me, too.
