DAY 59 The Power of Optimism

Hidy ho, Journal!
I remember having a conversation once with my husband on optimism vs pessimism. After agreeing on the definitions, I asked him which he thought he tended to be...I still remember being surprised at his answer:
"I am a realistic optimist!"
I love that...he refused to be put in a box...and chose instead to be who HE wanted to be...a realistic optimist...

Later I found this great quote that explained it perfectly:
"The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails."--William Arthur Ward
This is the way I want to be...aware of "facts", believing for a positive outcome, and have the courage and boldness to take ACTION,  by making healthy choices that will help me sail on towards my dreams, passions and goals.

From Dr Phil's book:  "Gain emotional closure...refuse to live with unfinished emotional business."

My verse for today: "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way."

My quote for today: "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."--Helen Keller

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

Oh Loretta, You have found your sails already. I can tell by your writings but more importantly your comments, advice, knowledge in your responses to me. I suspect you just doubt your own strength at times.

I love the quote out of Dr. Phil's book - no truer words could be spoken!

GO! ;)

[ALL}: You nailed it...yes, I do fight off that mugger named "doubt", especially doubt that I have the strength to do this all the way. Most of the time, I win that fight... occasionally I get a black eye!

Yes, I have learned so much from Dr Phil's book, The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution. If you haven't read it, it's great! And you could probably find it at your local library.

CINCIMOM11: I recently read a blog where the writer said he hated quotes...I totally didn't understand that! I love them...so much wisdom packed into one little easy to remember sentence. I'm glad you liked it. :-)
