DAY 432 A Romantic Toon

Hi there, Journal & Friends,

I decided to get this typed up Sunday, for Toon Tuesday.

This coming Friday Jim and I will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. So I thought it would be fun, for Toon Tuesday, to show pics of a commissioned book I painted.

The book was a surprise gift from a gentleman to his wife on their wedding anniversary (awww, how romantic). It was based on the book of Proverbs in the Bible.

In the finished book, each chosen verse was on the left page, with the matching illustration on the right side. There were quite a few, so I'll just pick some of my favorites.

It was watercolor and sepia ink on heavy watercolor paper, bound into a leather book. I loved painting this... I hope you enjoy it!

Today's Peek at the Past (I started that post saying: "I was feeling bogged down, stuck, like in quicksand or thick mud... and like time has stopped." Yet it's now a year later, and I am about 50 pounds lighter. It may be slow progress, but it IS progress!)

From Day 71, October 19, 2009:
I have become too comfortable...been playing too close to the cliff edge. And if I don't clean up my act, I might fall right over that cliff! No excuses.... I can do better.

As I think about it...I don't want OKAY result...I want GREAT results. Life is too short...I am too large...I am not a spring chicken any longer...I will not accept piddling results!! And the only one that can change that is ME.

From Dr Phil's book: "When you kill time, remember you can't resurrect it."

My verse for today:  "...the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones."

My quote for today: "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child." --Pablo Picasso

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

Loretta, you have an amazing talent there! My daughters and I are surprised that you're not a famous illustrator. I live next to a famous children's illustrator/writer (Mary Azarian). I'm trying to think of who your drawings remind me of.... the details are really beautiful.

The art is beautiful--of corse. :) (And another set of illustrations you could send to Welwyn.)

And that quote- HAH! I almost said the exact same sentiment to myself today. It's be that kind of a week--in spades. Playing at the edge of the cliff...

I hope you're feeling okay and not in too much pain! You know that I've been praying up a storm! :D

Loretta, those are just beautiful. Your style is so consistant. It must be nice to be so comfortable in your own 'voice'.
I wasted so many years trying to be someone else with my art that I have years to go to get comfortable.
Happy Anniversary Loretta! Enjoy your weekend.
