DAY 399 A Happy Award

Hi there Journal & Friends,

Today I want to thank Stephanie from She's In There Somewhere, and Maranda from Glimpses of My Journey Thru Life.  They gave me the Happy 101 Award! Thank you both!

*******
I've been trying on and off for 24 hours to get Blogger to let me upload images. Nada, zip, nyet!! So let's just pretend for now that you see the Happy 101 Award right here in this little space!!  I'll add it later, if I can ever get Blogger to cooperate. Makes me wonder... does Blogger know this is a "happy" award, and so the little gremlin wants to try to make me frown?!
*******

Here are the rules:
1. Post who gave you this award.
2. State 10 things you like.
3. Give this award to 10 other bloggers and notify them with a comment.

10 Things I like?
Okay, in no particular order:

1. The purr of a kitty

2. The humming sound a hummingbird makes when they fly

3. The smell and sound of rain

4. Quality chocolate

5. Passionate music of all kinds (think Rod Stewart love songs, instrumental music by Yanni, Elvis singing Love Me Tender, Andrea Bocelli, the Righteous Brothers singing Unchained Melody, Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zschech, Rachmaninoff, Ravel... and many more)

(If you want to watch some of the most passionate and classy ice dancing ever, check out Torvill & Dean at the 1984 Olympics, skating to Bolero by Ravel... outstanding!!)

6. Color

7. The book of Psalms in the Bible

8. Jim's green eyes

9. Crazy quilts

10. Science fiction that has great characters you can like, a plot you can't predict, written with adventure, humor, intrigue and a dash of romance.

So there you have it. Sorry to be so pedestrian... no world peace or anything. :-D

Here are my nominees, 8 in all:
Juliana at Abide and Endeavor
Destiny 150 at Destined for 150
Desperate Diva at Too Fat to Dance
Eat and be Merry at Losing It - Weight That Is!

Notice that all these are not on my daily blogroll?? There are only so many hours in the day, but I like them, and visit them as often as possible, and hope some of you will, too, and offer words of encouragement. And if any of you guys have already received this award, then you've been double blessed! :-D

Okay, off to do my noticifacashuning of them thar new Awardees!
(I WAS able to upload the Happy 101 Award into my sidebar, so those needing to snag it can find it at the top right. Sorry for the hassle.)

Today's Peek at the Past (Ahh... just what I needed to read about. And my answer to that last sentence is... I still have a hard time "feeling" strong. But I DO feel determined and confident that I will never quit, and therefore WILL make it to my goal someday.)

From Day 38, September 16, 2009:
DETERMINATION: the power that results from deciding definitely and firmly.

I read somewhere the answer given by a professional athlete when he was asked "what is your secret?" He replied: "Discipline...develop your mental strength...mental toughness...a matter of desire."

So, I looked up self-discipline:  I summarized what I found this way...

Do WHAT I need to do...
WHEN I need to do it...
whether I FEEL like doing it or not

So, that is why I don't FEEL like I have much strength...if I did, it seems like I would have faced my fears a long time ago, and been to my goal weight by now...

I have to ask myself...if inner strength is like a muscle, in that it will grow with hard use, then is ACTING strong, doing the things that must be done....is that the same as BEING strong?? If I keep making the right choices on this journey, DOING the things I need to do...will that grow my inner strength muscles?

I don't know...maybe I am afraid to own it...I don't feel I have earned it yet. I wonder if I will feel differently in another year??

(For complete post "Strength " click HERE
From Dr Phil's book: "Ultimately only you--and you alone--are responsible for getting your weight under control."

My verse for today: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and I am helped."

My quote for today: "You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that." --from Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

I absolutely love Unchained Melody--since it first came out. Now, I've dated myself. chuckle.

And "determination" is my word of the hour. ...tho I fall, I shall arise!..." Micah.

P.s. Did I forget to tell you that there's an award for you on my blog, too? If I did, sorry. I gave out 26 at one time... Deb

Thank you for the award! I may start to collect them like pokemon thingies... if those are still cool. Like I would know!

If you "pretend" that you have inner strength, and practice often, you will realize one day that your pretend strength has indeed transformed itself into true strength. That said, no one could have achieved the things you have without inner strength. Believe that you have it, because I certainly believe you do.

Blogger does have its moods, doesn't it?

I like the sound and smell of rain, too & definitely quality chocolate. Maybe I should go see the Chocolate Man soon.

I have to purry happy kitties right here. Awww. They want kitty snacks.

Awww, my first award for the new blog! Thank you very much ^_^ I've had a really bad weekend though (as you may have read) so I'm going to temporarily delay my award post until I've recovered a tad, as right now I feel like I don't deserve it! Thank you so much though and you'll see it posted at some point this weed :-D

Thanks and what a nice start to my week. Need to think about this, but I'm tickled with the idea and the award.
