Hi there Journal & Friends,
I rarely choose a goal with a number attached to it. In the past, that has usually been a sure-fire way to set myself up for disappointment.
But sometimes you need a fresh vision, a boost to get you going. And since I started Steve's Hot 100 challenge (it's still not too late to join! Go HERE for details) I've been thinking about my goals.
And I played with the 100 days... and wondered how much I might weigh at the end of the Challenge. I was surprised at first, then excited to realize that I might... maybe... probably could... finally get OUT of the 300's and burst right into the twosies!! The TWO hundreds!
For some of you that would NOT be so exciting. But I haven't been in the 2's in about 27 years!!! This was an exciting thought for me, a great mini-goal along the way to my final goal of 199.
Then... I realized that I was not seeing ME... it was like making plans for someone else... talking about another person. I was excited about the possibility, but it was not ME. It's been so long... it just didn't seem REAL. It was weird!
I was put on my first diet at age 10... and it's been a roller coaster ever since.
Being able to SEE yourself successful at a thing is powerful and important. I tried and tried...it just wasn't coming.
So I set out to find a photo of me at around 299. That goal is perfectly doable for me between now and 1/1/11. I wanted some visual help.
I found one! I am younger, but at least it's the right size. :-)
(Me and Jim... wasn't he scruffy-cute in his beard?)
I have been thinking of it all day... trying to "see" it. And it's beginning to feel real, and personal... a reality for ME.
It will be the action, the DOING of my daily goals for the Hot 100 Challenge that will carry me to this milestone. The numbers will take care of themselves, an after effect of the consistent actions.
Twosies, here I come!
Today's Peek at the Past (Oh, I LOVED re-reading this one! It was not my "brilliant" writing that got me excited... it was because I had included all my old favorite quotes from my walls here at home. It was like talking with old friends... and they were cheering me on and filling my heart with renewed enthusiasm! I need that for this push into new territory.)

Oh it is not only doable, it is done! go Retta!!
We live in a liquid state of thought.
So yeah - go for it!
We're all wanting it with you.
You can do it, Loretta! We're behind you 100%! :)
You of all people will be able to reach your goal! Your attitude allows you to succeed. I think I have that same plaid dress in your picture!
You have an excellent plan and it's a very do-able plan!! And along the way you will be inspiring many others :) You go girl!!!
Yes girl...You inspired me to join the hot 100...can't wait to see what transpires!
You can do this Loretta. You are so right that it is such a challenge to really see yourself at your goal...just like it is hard to live life now as if you were already at your goal and not wait to get there to start.
So many emotions and mental things to work through, but it will be worth it.
Good luck with the challenge!! :)
You will do it. That picture is adorable. Is that the husband unit beside you?
In any photo I've seen of you, you always look lit up form within. Happy.
You will do it.
:D You know that I have steadfastly refused to ever make a number on the scale a challenge goal. Can't control what my body will do--only what I can do--naver make goals over which you don't have full control... blah, blah, blah.
BUT, for some reason, This HOT 100 Challenge has me thinking about the scale. :D You saw my post and know that I, too, did the math.
Maybe we both needed that kind of motivation to relight our fire. You know, wanting the numbers to go DOWN was what got us in this weight loss thing. Maybe I just got too grown up, too sensible, too theoretical...
I dunno, but now, I've gotten way enthusiastic--and am willing to just be foolish about this and let er rip. :D I decided that beginning October 1st, I'll be weighing weekly and posting those weights again.
I'll end up where I end up--and if I have kept my goals, I won't be seriously disappointed with whatever the numnber says--but I'm letting hope arise. Yes, I am!
We're gonna burn this thing!
Deb
Two'sies are coming. You can and will do it Loretta. And I think it's exciting.
I think you've found your passion.

I'm with you but I won't try to match your weight goals nor am I into the 100 day thing this time.
I have 12 weeks to lose 14 kg/30 lbs and I am preparing/training for my first half marathon, walking of course.
Now to put the passion to work.
Blessings
Yay twosies! This is such an exciting transition. You can TOTALLY do it - go, Loretta, go!!! ♥
I want to come too>
I don't want to put numbers to goals but I can't say that the number isn't in the back of my mind.
I'm so excited for you! You can do it!
YAY, LORETTA! We are SO going to be The Hot 100 Heroes, reaching our goals, and hitting those lows. I am rooting for you - just imagine how FABULOUSLY GREAT it's going to be starting 2011 on such brand new terrain, whoohoo!
Thanks for your encouragement - I'm happy to know a fellow big dreamer!
