Hi Journal & Friends,
Well, I'm not sure if I'd call this a "favorite" photo! But I did stumble upon another lost "before" photo. They are hard to come by, since I never wanted a camera aimed my way!
First, for comparison, I have a picture showing the absolute lowest I ever got (as a semi-adult) when I was 16 years old:
And here is the infamous Lost Before pic:
And this is one was from August of this year, when I was 330 lbs:
I can see the changes in my face finally, but honestly, when I look at that middle photo, the rest of me still looks so much like it that it can be a little demoralizing. I suppose the solution is... don't LOOK at it! LOL!
Today's Peek at the Past (The quote for the day from one year ago really hit me today!)
From Day 27, September 5, 2009:
"You'll never achieve extraordinary results taking average measures."

Enjoy the Journey & Labor Day weekend,

The pictures provide me with mixed feelings also... then one will show a little muscle tone in the arm or I will see part of my collar bone emerging and I start to like it (the photo)Keep taking the pics but don't look until you are ready. :)
by the way lady... your eyes rock!
STACIA: "don't look until you are ready". Ha ha ha, I love that! Yep, that's what I will do. :-)

You are wonderful -
I'm glad to have you as my blogging friend.
You are one of the good ones....
Seeing your changes - it's awesome!
:) I know how much courage it took to post that before picture. :) Allthough, I kind of liked this one. You were outside and doing your thing. :)
But, my own before pic-->I cringe and avert my eyes! every time I see that hideous before of me in the fuschia paisley :o top. But it is the best representation of how I looked, so I put it up. But, ugh. What we will do for our public, huh?
As I looked at your lady in red photo, I was once again struck by two thoughts: You are absolutely stunning and no wonder the enemy of our souls wants to keep you hidden indoors and under all of those pounds.
Give him a black eye, Loretta, by doing this thing!

Oh my gosh Loretta, you looked like a movie star at 16. You were and still are so pretty!
I look at your before photo and then at your current photo and the differences are amazing. You know that 125 pounds lost is a real accomplishment, right?
About the body, I bet the differences are there too but you just won't/can't see them. We do that to ourselves for reasons I don't understand. Be kinder to yourself.
I like your picture of you on the right. The one with the lights behind your head, holding the sign, "Because I want the Energy, Mobility and Freedom To be he Real Me!" What a great thought.
love this...think I already said how pretty you looked in those oldphotos...and you still have the same smile.
I bet if you posted a now photo in the same position we would all see the difference.
It's hard to see progress ourselves.
My first reaction is to cry out "Wow, you're doing such an amazing job!" and give you a high five over the internet somehow. I know it's easy for us as readers to notice and to say that to others, but it's so hard for us as writers to say it to ourselves! So I completely agree with the first comment - don't look until you are ready. You're the one you're doing this for, you're the one you're here to please!
You are beautiful!!
I love that quote too!!
"You'll never achieve extraordinary results taking average measures."

Thanks for sharing!

There's definitely a -world- of difference between the before picture and the 330 picture, even if the 330 isn't a full body shot, it's clear enough to all of us that you're doing an amazing job!
I wonder if we see what we want or expect to see when we aren't happy with our weight. There is no way on earth that all that weight came off just from the neck up. LOL!
Thanks for visiting my blog and for all of the moral support. It really helped. Today is a much better day!!
Hugs,
mary
Wow, hot teen pic there, Loretta. Your face remains gorgeous. Yeah, don't look until your ready. I think I look less than great in pics still, too. But I think it's all in our heads. There seems to remain some disconnect for most of us. So, you're hardl alone as far as that goes. I've seen lots of other bloggers type the same thing.
I like the life sparkling in your eyes in the last picture.
Bet we would see the differences. But, I agree, don't look until you're ready. Don't let anything discourage or distract you, cause you're doing amazing.
As someone who has seen you with my own eyes very recently, I can say that you don't look "so much like" the before photo. You really don't. If you put a current photo of you in that pose next to it, you would totally see!
I had a dress with daisy trim like that!!
You were gorgeous at 16, and you remain so. A little older--definitely wiser--and still with that youthful sparkle in your eyes and attitude. Thanks for sharing these photos.
You're so beautiful. Our yesterdays have lead us to today. YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL!
I love what STACIA said "don't look until you are ready". Progress Progress and then look.
Gosh Retta! You have such a beautiful expressive face. I understand finally seeing it in your face, but still cringing away from the mid section. It makes you wonder where all the work has gone (even though we know).
You are doing an amazing job lady!
Aww, you guys are the best-est. Thank you, everyone for such nice comments.
My husband said the same thing as a couple of you (and Becca)... that I would probably see the difference if I took a photo in the same pose, dressed the same way, and put them side by side.
I dunno, maybe so. But to be totally honest, I think I'll wait, because I am too sure I would be disappointed at how it turned out. I guess I am just not "ready" to look. So, I'll wait.
I know... how's about I do that when I cross over into the two-sies. That would be a good way to celebrate getting out of the 3's. Mini-goal: do that by Christmas... my Christmas present to myself. Yeah, I like that. :-)

Had to remove my post...to many typos. Love the daisies...so cute. Loretta, you have a done a fantastic job. Keep it up. While all three pictures may be of you at different stages in your life, the beautiful soul remains in each.
Somehow we've trained our eyes not to notice small changes, but photos do show them. Just trust that changes are happening, you know the scale doesnt lie and no matter what you see (or fail to notice) changes are happening. First small, then eventually big ones. You are so pretty! Then, and now.
