AUG 30th My Choice & My Bracelet

Some people call it delusional.
Some people call it pollyanna.
Some people call it spin.
Some people call it denial.

I call it MY CHOICE  to view the world with optimism and hope.

I call it MY CHOICE as to which colored glasses I will view the world:

Dark and dismal... or... light and bright and open to possibilities.

My belief: optimists have more fun

(Joey always has a party goin' on!)

We optimists may have the same amount of junk hit us as everybody else, but we choose not to wallow in it or stay focused on it. Learn and move on is my current mantra.

We choose to focus on things for which to feel thankful.

"Our ultimate freedom is the right and power
to decide how anybody or anything
outside ourselves will affect us."
--Stephen Covey

All this "choice" talk brings me to the other part of this post: my bracelet came!

In my sidebar is a pic of Sean Anderson's book (which I totally loved) called Transformation Road (can click on the book to go to his website).

Sean is the real deal. He's not some slick phoney out to sell you a manufactured "story" just to make a buck. I've followed his journey ever since I started my blog, about 3 1/2 years ago, and I trust his heart and his motives. Sean lost about 280 lbs, and is passionate about encouraging others that they, too, can choose to change.

Sean made it. He busted out of his self-made mental shackles and CHANGED. He CHOSE to change, before the change came and chose him.

That's his mantra:
Choose change
before change chooses you.

So as you can see, Sean is big on this idea of Choice. I clicked with that right away. I may not be as lickety-split fast on this journey as he was (ha ha, what an understatement!), but I understand what he's saying, and agree. That's why when he offered his leather bracelets recently, I snapped one up from his website HERE!

Here's mine:

It's stamped with: I'M CHOOSING CHANGE

I rarely buy or wear bracelets because they are usually too small. Heck, who needs to be reminded that they still have a fat wrist, right?! Well, Sean made his bracelet a generous adjustable length, and it fits great! If you're dinkier than me, you could even wear it as an anklet, LOL!

It's just a little tangible reminder to make those good choices. Yes, I struggle at times. I lose focus and zone out. Or get discouraged and lose sight of my goal. So this is a good thing for me to wear. It reminds me I am NOT a victim. I DO have a choice. And I will never EVER quit, til I get there.

Thanks, Sean... I love my bracelet!

Enjoy the Journey,

Love the bracelet! (um, those poor chickens! lol) I have not blogged for real for a while, but I may start again one of these days...for now the link here is the blog me and my daughter do for our dog, haha

As far as being a PollyAnna, I WISH I could be more pollyanna! Most people feel that way, they want to be more optimistic, but its difficult sometimes when life gets in the way. I keep trying :-)

Hi Nancy, thanks for dropping in!
Ha ha, I knew it was you. I saw your signature, but then saw MooMoo's pic, and remembered that you started a doggie blog! :-D

My hubby cooked those chickens on the smoker/grill in that position... sitting up. When he brought them in, I laughed and laughed. He stuck a can of beer up their boo-hinds to hold them up and add moisture. Have to admit, they were pretty good chicks!

As I read--and because I couldn't figure out what the bracelet had written on it until I went to the web site--I wondered what followed the "I Choose...".

I wondered it all the way thru since (Although it may have been obviouis to everyone else) and so, because of my wondering, I had a thought. :}

And it was this: Everyone chooses every day. Many times a day, we make choices. Many choices. We may not realize we're choosing, but we are. Choosing ain't no big deal--it's what we choose that counts.

And I wondered what Sean chose. As I found the bracelet on his website, the answer made me nod and smile. Yes. THAT is a choice that matters. The choice to change-->for the better...before we change against our will for the worse. For we will change, one way or the other, won't we?

I'll be getting the t-shirt! :D

Thanks, Chris, I really appreciate that.

Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't realize I hadn't made it clear what it said on the bracelet! I didn't mean for you to have to go on hunt for it. :-O
I'll add it to my post, thanks!

This post warms my heart. Your bracelet rocks! When I find myself drifting and struggling along this road (because yes--it's never simply workouts-pitas--and roses), I have to remind myself of the simplistic foundation this entire Transformation stuff is built upon...and it's not easy---it's never easy. Sometimes I feel myself slipping and I look at my bracelet--and suddenly I remember. But what really snaps me out of my biggest struggles--is when I read a post or comment like yours here. You inspire me. Thank you Loretta--sincerely.

Oh, Loretta, it may have been perfectly clear! I am, perhaps, addled from an over-indulgence in paint fumes. :} It's gettin real here. (No bloodshed, tho.)

I have to admit I don't imagine YOU slipping and needing a reminder. But then, we are all human. Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot to me.

MargieAnne at

left a comment saying some nice things about Sean. For some reason blogger is being persnickety and won't post it. So, I'll add it here manually for her:

Hi lovely one. That bracelet is a cool idea.

I haven't read Sean's book yet Whack my hand! Everything you say about him is true. His blog has that ring of truth and I would expect no less of his book. He has a beautiful air of compassion around him but that doesn't make him nambie-pambie.

Life is based on the choices we make.

The neat thing is we can change our choices for better ones at any time.

Blessings

You're right optimism is more fun.

My husband told me to hum 'greasy grimy gopher guts' when the other crap hits. That helps, too. That stupid song always makes me smile.

So, someone speaks crap to me, and I laugh. Then I say, thank you for your thoughts, and move on.

We can choose. And we can arm ourselves to keep optimism in our day. Love the bracelet. It's awesome.

ha ha ha, I know that song, Mary! I can hear it in my head now. :-D)))

Hi Loretta! I love the bracelet. I was just reading in a motivational book that we should plan triggers to help ourselves. That bracelet could be a positive trigger for you.

Very nice. What a great way to be reminded of why we are doing what we are doing. And it looks good too!

Retta said...

I agree about planning for those positive triggers. It makes sense, to plan for success, since it sure won't "just happen". :-)

Retta said...

Yes, I sure enjoy wearing it. And even when I am not looking at it, I "feel" it there, and it helps with focus. Now to just remember to put it on!
:-D
