Today I got one that was super! Just a tweak... a new perspective, a seemingly little idea, but with big consequences. It was probably in his book, and I missed it.
First, here's the link to the whole article, which I highly recommend. I've been thinking about Joy AND Focus the last few days, and of course, that was his topic. Hmmm, no wonder it stuck out to me.
And since the latest blogging BUZZ has been about getting sued (!) over using pics from online sources, I ripped out my own quickie illustration, LOL!!
Anyway, I realized I've been focused on the END of the process, the behavior I wanted. The outcome, the success, the victory.
And Tommy says to focus, instead, on the START of the process. To quote from the article:
"Whatever we emphasize with our thoughts, words, or deeds multiplies in our mind. These thoughts become our focus. Our focus dictates our behavior."
So, I need to sow the seeds of right choices by thinking right thoughts, today. I can improve my tomorrow by improving my focus today.
I've talked a lot about CHOICE here, and I think I sort of emphasized the choice of behavior. Sure, that's still true. But I think it just might work better if I started with my choice of FOCUS, and let the behavior flow from that...
I know, clear as mud, LOL! It's a subtle difference, I guess. But when I read it, it sort of clicked with me, and I got excited and encouraged to work on it. Hope you like the article, too, since it will explain it MUCHO better. :-D
My book quote for today: "Right thinking is a choice." --Tommy Newberry, The 4:8 Principle
My verse for today: "Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."

Haha. That verse from Micah is one of my favorites. I memorized it from KJV, and here it is (as close as a 30 year memory can get me, anyway.)
"Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy, for though I fall, I shall arise. And though I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. " :D
As far as the post goes, :}, I agree. In fact, I think we had this discussion at one point. Just today, I posted that I would choose the Lord, focusing on Him rather than food for my consolation.
A little different than what you wrote, I know, but it does include where I put my focus. :}
Deb
:D I just read the article! And what should I find, but that the first example of what to focus on was--to focus on God! :D
It's funny. Many of those "focus thoughts" have been areas I've been trying to include in my life. Like, living in today, enjoying today (Joyce Meyere would like that.), focusing on lessons to be learned (not putting one's head in the sand while chanting positive thoughts, but looking for the lessons when I fail).
Haha. Well, can you tell I liked the article? It was a very pleasant surprise! I think I'll see if I can get on his email list.
Thanks, LtL
I think it was last year that you first mentioned that verse, and I liked it so much I put in on my desktop to see. :-)
I'm glad you like the article, Deb. He has a way of putting things that, even when they are not exactly new, they seem fresh. :-)
I'm late to the party and I couldnt agree more.
Sun is shining and I'm leaving my laptop to enjoy the joy of springtime outside.
Blessings
I'm glad you're getting some dry weather, MargieAnne. Enjoy your sunshine!
Thank you for the link! I am going to post all of those "Today's...on my dresser mirror! I have become so negative lately...living like I am 'waiting for the other shoe to drop'. Definitely need to change focus. Your posts always inspire and challenge me!
Hey, LtL. I changed my URL. You'll have to unfolow and refollow. Again. :} Sorry.
