Hi Journal & Friends,
Feeling better today... my Sweetie surprised me last night by giving me the perfect gift to make me smile... and this was AFTER the heart-shaped balloons and one beautiful red rose. :-)
I had been trying to squeak out money to buy canvases, and had settled on much smaller sizes than I really wanted. They are humongously expensive! The size I really wanted cost about $37 each, and I needed three for a triptych. Ouch.
But when he saw what I was settling for, he handed me some cash he had squirreled away, and told me to buy the BIG puppies! That was so sweet of him, since he had been saving up to buy something for himself.
He knew I had been discouraged, and this really touched me that he would do this for me. My hero.
Happy Valentines Day, all!

Your post actually gave me goosebumps, Loretta. I love it ~ that's the best present of all, especially for you. Your talent needs to be canvased (made up saying, just for you).
So very nice and thoughtful, what a guy. Have fun with those BIG canvases!
size matters. lol. I am glad you have what you need, What a good guy. Happy valentines Day.
Hi Loretta!
I just found your blog! I love it!!
I am just starting out on my own weight loss journey.. and I am hoping that blogging about it will help to keep me focused. :)
I look forward to following your blog!

Awwww, that reminds me of--for goodness sakes, I can't remember the name. You know where the wife sells her hair to buy a watch chain and the husband sells his watch to buy a hair comb? Anyway, your version has all of the sweetness with none of the pathos.
And, of course, I can never think about that story without adding to myself, "Well, yeah, but her hair will grow back!"
What is that name?! Ugh.

DEB: O. Henry! Yes, a touching story, the Gift of the Magi. I can totally see Jim doing something like that. :-)
All of my adult life I had waist length hair. And when I was diagnosed with Lupus, one of the "clues" was that my hair was falling out in clumps. So... I had to cut it short and start over.
Yeah, it grew back eventually, and filled in the bald spots. But when it's "you", your identity, how you see yourself... it's kinda stressful to have to cut it off. So, to do it voluntarily out of love... well, that story is a heart-tugger alright!
Ha ha ha...couldn't resist. I'm such a sucker for silly balloons, so added a pic of my Valentines balloons. :-D
What a wonderful guy you have! Hope you both have a happy day today!
Very, very sweet! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your hero!
He is a hero indeed!!
Happy V-Day to you and your man! I can so relate with wanting canvases and not being able to afford it. I love your blog. You have the most artistic blog of all. I need classes from you! I even bought a Mac hoping I can design an artistic blog. Can you give me a few tips? I need to satisfy my creative needs. How did you start? Keep things going... you are the biggest inspiration to me.
Nancy
What kind of canvases and what size?
What a great guy. Go make him a hamburger--that is what he loves, right? I mean, besides you!
Nothing like those little surprises to make us feel loved!!! Go big canvas girl and create wonderful things!!!
Awww. How sweet! Husbands can be wonderful creatures. Happy Valentines, Loretta!
Hope you will take photos of what you create. :)
Awesomeness in bloom!
What a sweetheart you have. Thanks for checking in on my blog. I have been MIA a good deal of the time for the past couple of months, so I haven't had time to comment on other blogs as much as I would have liked. Thanks for your kind comments and your insight. You gave me some inspiration--wise lady that you are...
REBECCA: I found the best price online at DickBlick... big gallery wrapped canvases, 36 x 24. It's be quite a site, all three lined up together when done! I was originally going for 4 feet tall each, but found out they charge extra to special deliver for oversized! Ack!
But since I've worked in miniature before, these 3 footers seem pretty big to me. :-D
Hey Nancy, I'll send you an email. :-)
My mom would've said, "Cute as a bug's ear!"... and that you are!
