JAN 8th Day of Rest & Fav Photo... Baby Deer!

Hello Journal & Friends,

Last June I told you about The Triplets, and posted photos HERE. A Mama deer had triplets right outside the hospital where Jim works in Ashland, Oregon.

There is a lot of dense shrubbery, trees and a water source, so she moved right in, obviously feeling safe. The admininstration immediately put out the word: protect her, and leave her alone. It was wonderful, and patients enjoyed getting glimpses of her and The Triplets outside their windows. Unfortunately, one little fawn didn't make it, so now they are The Twins.

The 2 babies grew, and Mama led them off into the nearby hills. Last seen, Jim said they looked strong and healthy. Yay!

Jim is excited that he was invited to submit some of his photography to be shown in the hospital gallery, and to also be used in the Patient Choice Gallery, where they get to pick which art hangs on the walls of their room during their stay. It's a program designed to make patients feel cared for body, spirit and soul. Nice, yes?

Here are The Twins, on gallery wrapped canvas. It makes me smile to see MyGuy feeling encouraged about his photography. To have a passion and pursue it... that's what we all need on this journey to better health.

I hope you like these cuties as much as I do (can click to enlarge).

Enjoy the Journey,

Loretta

Congratulations to Jim. He deserves it. His photos are good.

I was amazed to read about the hospital having an art gallery for patients to choose from.

Again I see the advantage of a large population and creative people.

I know it is 20+ years since Greg's accident when he became a paraplegic. But ... He went to the Spinal Injury unit in our largest city and there it was so dismal. Old brown dreary prints on a few public walls. The whole place was very run down. I think that things have changed a lot in the intervening years but I know of nowhere in NZ where patients can choose art for their stay. Rest Homes maybe, where people can have a few personal possessions. Hospices may have different rules but I'd be surprised if they have a choice.

Blessings

I look at you and your Jim's lovely photos and I just know that so much good is headed your way. It is no coincidence that so much wonderfulness surrounds you right now. :)

Thank you, K and Niecy, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.

Anne: Yes, they've designed a program to try to create a total healing environment.

In addition to the art gallery, they offer a food room service menu anytime during the day, whatever the patient wants (that is dr approved for their condition), aromatherapy by trained nurses, guided imagery CD's for relaxation, music therapy by a harp player, massage by a licensed massage therapist, dog visitation by therapy dogs, and more.

Sounds like a visit to a spa! Too bad it takes being sick to get it, ha ha ha

YELLOW ROSE JASMINE: Aww, thank you, I really appreciate that. In the past, I would be inclined to blow it off, embarrassed. But you know what? I accept what you say, that good is headed our way. Yay to good! Good is good. :-D

Those photos are just beautiful. Creatively done. Love them both.

I thought I was going to say that the "green" one was my favorite, until I looked at the "brown" one. :D

Love them both. The brown fawn with the brown leaves--just a beautiful composition. But seeing the fawn encircled by the greenery--also beautiful composition.

Tell Jim that I think he's a master artist!

Thank you, Deb, I will tell him.
I liked them both, too. But I appreciated the symbolism of the concrete and foliage... them being forest creatures yet born right in the small city. I'm so happy no one was allowed to pet or feed them, and now they are safe off in the nearby hills. Yeah... I'm a romanticist. :-D
