A quick update to let the world know I'm still alive n kicking.
The surgery went just fine.
Was a wild ride for awhile, but I'm doing very well now.
I recently realized how close I am to cracking the "lost 200 lbs" mark, and I'm starting to get excited about that. I'm sitting at 271 right now, having started at 460. So only 11 more pounds to go for a fun number to achieve! Still mostly doing the ketogenic diet. Trying to move more, now that I don't have as much to haul around, ha ha.
It's been hard. And I still goof up now and then. But overall, things are going in the right direction. I'm so very thankful.
Still on the Journey,
Retta

Loretta, It's PJ Geek. I left weight loss blogging. I was getting obsessed and beating myself up. I've struggled with getting back in to eating disorder behavior, going through eating disorder therapy. I feel I'm in recovery from old behaviors, but I still beat up on myself. Of the 135 lbs I lost I've regained a little over half.I'm proud I've maintained a 60 lb loss for 9 years. But, I am only concerned for my health and will be going on the very low calorie liquid diet / ketogenic through a hospital obesity program. My goals: improved health, mobility, better aging. I happened to think of you and stopped here---the day you posted!
Best wishes for your recovery from cancer. I will check in now and again .
I don't plan on blogging...yet. I hadn't thought about it. I would like to hear more about your ketogenic diet. I think there are those in the wt loss blogging world back when I was in it that expected perfection and negated other's journey. I never felt that from you . Hang in there . you are an inspiration.
Hi PJ. Yes, I haven't posted much in the last few years, either. I just wanted to focus and figure things out for myself. I've been doing the ketogenic diet for about 2 years. It took me awhile to figure out that it gives fast results in the beginning, then slows. And that is when it needs tweaking. There are so many versions and ways to apply the basics of it, and I didn't realize that in the beginning. People will tell you it's THIS way. But there are so many variations, due to our individual needs.
I did great, then stalled after a few months. Since, I've tried most of variations, and find that changing it up is actually the most effective for me. I sometimes do straight keto, counting all the minutia on an online site (Cronometer). Other times, I do "lazy keto", where I don't drive myself nuts counting it all. Other times I do intermittent fasting, usually only for a day. I've tried OMAD (one meal a day). I tried 2 day fasting, but it was just too complicated when I have to take meds with food.
The one I'm doing now has actually been the MOST effective. I just call it having an occasional "carb up" day. Some have suggested that it will shake up your metabolism to do that once in a while. Honestly, I was skeered to do it! I didn't trust myself not to start some kind of food frenzy. But I planned ahead, and when I did it, I was shocked to find the weight loss started again! I can't recommend it to others with a guarantee of success, cuz some have tried it and crashed and burned. Yet others have had great results, like me. So the whole idea is a lot of trial and error to find what works for you.
I got some foundational info by reading some books (The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung, and Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore). Then the BEST thing was when I joined a keto forum after listening to the 2ketodudes podcasts. It's at ketogenicforums.com. That is where I found all the various ways you can approach keto. Tons of info to read, and they encourage you to find what suits you as an individual.
Anyway, I wish you the best from your liquid keto diet. Combining low calorie with keto will most likely be as fast as shrinky dink in it's effects!! LOL
Hi Loretta,
It's been over 4 years since I was in the blogging scene and you are still going on my feed. Great to visit your page once again. I am still on the journey with you, just trying something different this time. Stay the course, my friend. :)

Hi Margene! I remember you and Brent (and I'm glad to read he is recovering nicely). I hope getting back into blogging is something you find helpful. I've read of several people who have done well on the Bright Line program. I hope you have the same good results!
