Woot! I'm ...Congrats on your 8 pounds, Loretta. Woot! I'm proud of you. Holidays and all, and you kept your eye on your goals. I see great things for you in 2012. Like I see you breaking into the 200's, and I can't wait until you write that post.

Mindset is everything. It's something I worked hard to shift, and is how I've maintained.

Sometimes I feel stuck lately and feel I should do more. On the other hand, as you've read earlier, my focus, ambitions and goals are elsewhere.

So, instead, I started thinking about small things I could do and stick to .... more permanent changes.

I was just thinking this morning how I've kept this weight off going on 4 years now. I have never been the same size so long in my life. And your coach friend is right, that kind of thing comes from mindset -- learning not to envy what you can't have and learning to appreciate and love what's good for you. I probably spent 3 months on that alone one year into my losing. Then again about a year later to really drive it home. It sounds weird maybe, but a healthier lifestyle has since become habit. I don't really think about it much any more. Eating healthy makes me feel good. Working out regularly makes me feel great.

These are things you'll soon make habits, too.M Paxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14096697282530998519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-308288649463011906.post-91532362652138251342012-01-02T03:13:36.380-08:002012-01-02T03:13:36.380-08:00let me know if I can help...let me know if I can help...carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10189971808958997845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-308288649463011906.post-69571755129072134372012-01-02T03:00:17.384-08:002012-01-02T03:00:17.384-08:008 pounds is A...mazing! Crikey, my friend! :) Seriously, woohoo for you!
My question would have to be about why you can't get someone motivated until they are READY to do it. Why do some have this moment and others just never do, no matter how bad it gets for them- weight and health wise?
Looking forward to the advice, whatever question is chosen.'Yellow Rose' Jasminehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12496382898548158316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-308288649463011906.post-83794435086222582972012-01-01T22:56:49.899-08:002012-01-01T22:56:49.899-08:00Thanks Chris, Jules and Deb... How do you incorporate that factor for someone who doesn't have the athletic thinking?

2. Bodies naturally respond to emotions. How does changing the mindset effect changing behaviors that produce those natural physical triggers - reactions?

Thanks LorettaJules https://www.blogger.com/profile/13538697780110230554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-308288649463011906.post-91465808970984315282012-01-01T15:38:12.331-08:002012-01-01T15:38:12.331-08:00I like margie annes..it kind of ties into mine...h...I like margie annes..it kind of ties into mine...how to keep your 'why' intact. I'll def add that to the list!

In fact, I was JUST talking with hubby about it being the new year, and how sad it will be when those that are just starting or restarting lose the initial emotional high, and fall away, IF they don't have an underlying structure to keep them going for the long haul. We've got to learn to DO it IN SPITE OF how we feel.

Well, preachin to the choir here, I know YOU know that. ;-) Good suggestion, Mir, thanks.Rettahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10034267067410245582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-308288649463011906.post-89637924069072816462012-01-01T13:21:52.874-08:002012-01-01T13:21:52.874-08:00This is good.

It's the ...Keeping weight OFF is the hard part. It's the part obesity researchers scratch their head over. Any endeavor that goes against biology, hormones, genetics hits a wall. So, all we're left with is strategy, mind over matter, attitude. You are right. We have to fight constantly and lifelong and it's exhausitng. It's an athletic endeavor of will and mind and spirit not just body.

My suggestion is: "How to do a thing when everything in you is fighting against you to do it." That is the wall dieters and maintainers hit. How to keep going when exhausted. How to keep motivated after the 6 mnths, 9 months, year, 2 years...the long haul.

The magic question? :D

Happy New Year, Retta! Congrats on the loss and let's keep our wins!Princess Dieter aka Mirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121450857817115011noreply@blogger.com
